The Diatonic 3 note per string scale vs. the Pentatonic scale

In this lesson we will discuss and compare the differences between the Diatonic 3 note per string scale and the pentatonic scale.  You will learn that this 3 note per string scale is the scale that all the rock players use to develop speed in there playing.  This scale is also the basis for mode theory, which is very important in music theory and advanced guitar playing.

This is the root position of the diatonic scale, what I called Version 2 in the manuscript.  There is not audio for this one because it virtually sounds like the first one.

Here is an exercise that will help you develop some playability and technique with this new scale.  Start out by practicing this with a metronome set at 40 beats per minute.
